The song changed to a slower, sultry number, and the mood changed, and suddenly he was holding her in his arms, close, tight. His cologne wrapped itself around her, it’s woodsy scent permeating her skin. In his eyes were a speckled reflection of lights, but he was only looking at her. It made her shiver, even though she could feel every inch of his warm body. Suddenly her mouth was dry, and she felt like she was about to choke.
“I’m sorry, I need some air.” She darted off towards the lobby, finding an unoccupied bench out front. She ran her hands through her hair. She just felt lost. What was she doing? What was happening? How could she let herself fall again?
She felt the bottom of the wooden bench creak and shift as his weight settled in next to her. Neither spoke, knowing that the next words would affect their ship’s course.
She took a deep breath. “I never said you were wrong.”
